EVENT FORMAT
  • 64 draw for singles and a 32 draw for doubles.
  • The main draw eight quarter finalists for singles and the four semi-finalists for doubles will qualify for the super regional held at University of Washington the following weekend, Oct. 22 to Oct. 25.
  • Main Draw singles matches will be a full two of three sets. All consolation singles matches will use a 10-point tiebreaker in lieu of a 3rd set.
  • Doubles will be an eight-game pro set with a tiebreak at 7-7, later rounds of doubles will be two out of three sets with a 10-point match tiebreaker for the 3rd . All scoring will be No-Ad scoring.
NOTES
  • Santa Clara returns seven players (Ryan Ali, Nick Cmager, Guillaume Dalmasso, Santiago Hinojosa, Arthur Neuhaus, Matthew Rodriguez and Mann Shah) from last season when it finished 8-7, 4-4 WCC including victories in five of the last six matches in an abbreviated campaign composed of only the spring season.  The Broncos add two newcomers (James Bell and Karlo Kranic) who transferred from Louisville and Ole Miss, respectively.
  • The Broncos finished No. 5 in the Spring 2021 Oracle Intercollegiate Tennis Association regional team rankings.  Shah finished top-20 in singles with Arthur Neuhaus ranked No. 5 in doubles.
  • The Broncos have played in two tournaments this fall:
    • Neuhaus and Dalmasso played in the All-American Championships pre-qualifying rounds in Tulsa, Oklahoma where Dalmasso advanced to the round of 32 in singles. 
    • The rest of the team played in the Aggie Invitational in Davis, California where Shah captured the top-flight singles title.   
  • Last spring, Neuhaus was named All-WCC Second Team Doubles where he tied for the team lead (alongside Dominic Barretto) with six doubles victories and led the team with nine singles wins.  
  • Shah earned his first conference honor when he finished the spring 7-8 including 3-7 at No. 1 and 4-1 at No. 2.  The sophomore from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India won three of his last four matches.
  • Head coach Niall Angus is in his sixth year as the head coach. He owns a 58-41 career record and has coached eight all-conference singles, seven all-conference doubles and nine conference all-academic honorees.
