Box Score STOCKTON, Calif. – Santa Clara softball got on the board right away but couldn't keep the offense going and lost to Pacific 3-1 in a nonconference game Sunday afternoon.
The Broncos (3-8) found themselves up 1-0 three batters into the game after Emma Bickford drove in Ashley Trierweiler who had led off with a single and moved up on a sacrifice bunt.
Trierweiler finished with two hits and a pair of stolen bases with Lauren LaHood and Ella Romero both adding a hit as well.
The Tigers (10-9-1) would come back with a run in the second to tie the game and then took the lead in the third. They added an insurance run in the sixth as well.
Jessica Mabrey finished the day 2-for-2 with a home run and two runs scored to lead the Pacific offense. Carly Lucchetti added a double and an RBI as well.
Santa Clara had a golden opportunity in the sixth. With the bases loaded and just one out, Bethany Hammer came in to replace Pacific starter Hannah Kroskey and got out of the jam.
Kroskey (3-3) got the win going 5 1/3 innings, allowing a run on five hits with a walk and four strikeouts. Hammer tossed the final 1 2/3 innings for her fourth save.
Regan Dias (1-6) went the distance for Santa Clara, allowing three runs, two earned, on seven hits with a walk and a strikeout.
