STOCKTON, Calif. – Allyson Ferreira drove home the go-ahead run in the seventh and Regan Dias allowed one run over four innings in relief to lift Santa Clara softball to a 4-3 win over Pacific to take the West Coast Conference opening series on Sunday.

With the game knotted up at 3-all in the seventh, Lauren LaHood led off with a single and advanced to second on Ashley Trierweiler's sacrifice bunt before coming home on Ferreira's single to put the Broncos (16-25, 2-1 WCC) up by a run.  

LaHood went 2-for-3 in game including her first career home run in the second inning to give the Broncos a 3-0 lead.

Pacific (11-26, 1-2 WCC) cut the lead to 3-2 in the third on RBI singles by Reagan Hamilton and Bethany Hammer against Lauren Anderson before she was replaced by Regan Dias. With the bases loaded and one out, Dias pitched out of the jam inducing a grounder to get a Tigers runner at home and a pop up.

The Tigers tied the game up in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI single by Kyla Eck.  They had an opportunity to take the lead by loading the bases on a walk and a Bronco error with two outs but Dias once again limited the damage, getting Rian Dirmeyer to fly out to strand three runners on the bases.

In all, the Tigers left nine runners on base.

Dias pitched a 1-2-3 seventh to pick up the second win of the series and improve to 4-8 on the year.  She allowed five hits, one run, one walk and struck out one over the final four innings of the game.

Amiyah Aponte (4-5) took the loss giving up the run in the seventh.

Along with LaHood, both Ferreira and Sammy Needham had two hits for the Broncos.
