SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's soccer remained atop the West Coast Conference standing as they battled San Francisco to a scoreless draw on Wednesday night at Stevens Stadium. The Broncos (5-6-3, 3-0-1 WCC) picked up a valuable point against the Dons and currently sit with 10 points, one point clear of second place Portland who are 3-1-0 in league play.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- San Francisco (7-2-5, 1-1-2 WCC) dictated play for the majority of the game, especially in the opening 25 minutes of the second half where they got off six shots.
- The Dons out shot the Broncos 10-5 for the game and held a 5-1 advantage on shots in goal. Eight of the shots came in the second half for USF.
- The reigning WCC Defensive Player of the Week, Jack Stoecker, had a stellar game at net making a total of five saves including four in the second half to record his third-straight shutout.
- Olivier Sylvain had a game-high three shots. Joshua Dabora led the Broncos with two shots.
