TULSA, Okla. – Santa Clara men's tennis player Christian Lerby advanced to the round of 32 in the qualifying draw at the ITA All-American Championships before losing to Boise State's Samuel Sippel, falling just short of reaching the main draw.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- On Tuesday, Lerby and Guillaume Dalmasso both played in the qualifying draw round of 64 after winning their opening round matches a day earlier.
- In the round of 64, Lerby defeated Pepperdine's Edward Winter in straight sets 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 to move to the next round. However, Dalmasso lost to Mississippi State's Benito Sanchez Martinez in three-sets, 7-6 (7-4), 1-6, 2-6.
- Lerby faced Boise State's Samuel Sippel in the round of 32, losing 6-3, 6-2 to end his run in the ITA All-American Championships.
