SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Reigning West Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week Adem Hamdaoua scored another long-range goal to propel Santa Clara men's soccer to a 1-0 shutout win over No. 7 Portland to remain undefeated in league play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Hamdaoua's game-winner came in the 35th minute from 23 yards out.  The senior midfielder sent a knuckleball from a slightly off centered position atop the box to beat Portland goalkeeper Kash Oladapo to the upper left 90.  The play was set up first by Martin Kwende Jr.'s field reversing cross from the left side to Jack Civitts who one timed it to Hamdauoa before he settled it down for the rocket shot. 
• All four of Hamdaoua's goals this season have come from at least 20 yards out. 
• Portland (6-3-0, 1-1-0 WCC) entered the game leading the nation in scoring averaging 3.25 goals per game but the Broncos (4-5-2, 2-0-0 WCC) shut them out for just the second time this season. 
• SCU goalkeeper Jack Stoecker was credited with five saves to record his second shutout of the season.  

• 3: Hamdaoua had a game-high four shots and three shots on goal. 
• 2 & 3: The assists by freshman Kwende Jr. and Civitts were their second and third, respectively, this season. 
• 6: Portland out shot Santa Clara 13-7 and had a 9-3 advantage in corner kicks, both by a margin of six.
