SAN FRANCISCO - Freshman Bronco
J.P. Odland secured the top finish of his young career on Tuesday, turning in a 2-over 74 in the final round of the USF/Howard Intercollegiate to finish the event tied for seventh at 7-under 69-66-74--209. Santa Clara as a team finished the event tied for sixth at 12-under 280-282-290--852.
ROUND HIGHLIGHTS:
- Calder Overfelt had the best individual round for the Broncos on Tuesday with a 1-under 71.
- Odland was the Broncos' top individual. He entered the day tied at the top of the leaderboard with LMU's Riley Lewis, who put up eye-popping numbers in all three rounds to run away with the medalist honors at 19-under 67-68-62--197.
- Fellow freshman Jeffrey Kwak, playing as an individual, also had the top finish of his young career by tying for 15th at 4-under 65-74-73--212.
- Nolan Forsman also tied for 15th at 4-under after turning in an even-par 72 on Tuesday.
- Joey Hayden (T33), Overfelt (T37) and Muzzy Donohue (T40) rounded out the Bronco lineup.
- LMU won the team title at 38-under 826 followed by USF (840), UC Davis (847), New Mexico (849) and Princeton (851) to round out the top five. The Broncos tied with San Diego in sixth place.
