SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's soccer (0-3) jumped to an early lead against Oregon State (3-1) scoring in the fourth minute but gave up three unanswered goals and fell 3-1 on Monday afternoon inside Stevens Stadium. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• In the fourth minute, Pierce Dyal pounced on a rebound shot by Tyrone Kirunda to put it past Oregon State goalkeeper Jesus Sanchez from close range that gave Santa Clara an early 1-0 lead.
• Late in the first half, Ellis Spikner got the equalizer from six yards out on assists from Arnau Farnos and Dante Williams.
• The teams entered the halftime intermission tied at 1-all. 
• Oregon State got the go-ahead goal in the 60th minute from Logan Farrington.  Farrington picked the loose ball in the mid-third and dribbled down the right side before unleashing a left-footed shot from 25 yards out that beat Broncos goalkeeper Felix Schaefer in the upper left 90. 
• Ten minutes later in the 70th minute, the Beavers extended their lead on a goal by Vicent Castro.  Javier Armas sent a vertical ball just outside the 18-yard box to the foot of Spikner who centered it for the onrushing Castro that was buried to the back of the net. 

• 7: A total of seven yellow cards were given out in a physical game.  
• Noah Bohane started his first games as a Bronco.
• Itamar Efrat and Spencer Roberts made their Bronco debuts coming in as substitutes.

• The Broncos head to the Lone Star State for a pair of games, first against Incarnate Word on Thursday followed by Houston Christian on Sunday.  Both games are at 5 p.m. PT.
