Donohue Shots Career-Low, Broncos Finish Strong At The N.I.T.

TUCSON, Ariz. - Santa Clara men's golf had a fantastic finish to their two-day stay at Omni National, shooting a 14-under 274 in the final round to finish 12th out of 18 teams at the 2024 N.I.T. hosted by the University of Arizona. After darkness suspended Monday's play with a few holes remaining in the second round, the Broncos came out swinging on Tuesday with three players turning in rounds in the 60s as part of their final round tally.

Muzzy Donohue was spectacular, especially over the final two rounds where he turned in back-to-back 66s to finish in a tie for seventh at 14-under 70-66-66--202. The 54-hole score was not only a career-low for the grad transfer, but the lowest score posted by a Bronco since Matt McCarty shot a 13-under 200 at the 2019 Alister MacKenzie Invitational.

ROUND HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Donohue had 13 combined birdies over the final two rounds. He has now tallied five rounds in the 60s for the year.
  • As a team, Santa Clara turned in 23 birdies in the final round.
  • Calder Overfelt turned in a bogey-free 4-under 68 in the final round while J.P. Odland notched seven birdies as part of a 4-under 68.
  • BYU's Zac Jones won medalist honors at 18-under 198 while New Mexico took home the team title at 51-under 813.
