MONTEREY, Calif. - Freshman golfer
Jack Hayden won medalist honors for the first time in his collegiate career on Tuesday, turning in a 5-under 211 to win the 2024 Otter Invitational hosted by Cal State Monterey Bay at the par-72, 7,104-yard Bayonet Golf Course.
Playing alongside his brother, Joey, as individuals, Hayden's tournament got off to a rocky start after carding a 5-over 77 in Monday's opening round. Something clicked however ahead of the second round, and the Dublin, Calif., product was sensational in his second go. Hayden carded an incredible seven-consecutive birdies and had eight total in the round for a 7-under 65 to vault ahead to the top of the leader board. On Tuesday, he solidified his place at the top with a 3-under 69 to hold on for a one-stroke victory ahead of CSU-Pueblo's Marius Dosiere, West Texas A&M's Victor Estas and Cal State East Bay's Ananjan Kaushik.

Hayden is the second Bronco to win medalist honors this season joining sophomore
J.P. Odland, who won the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate at 9-under 207.
The Broncos will tee off again Oct. 21-23 at the Leadership and Golf Collegiate, also in Monterey at the Bayonet Golf Course.
