SEATTLE – The ITA Northwest Regional Championships began on Thursday with three Santa Clara men's tennis players - Tiago Boschmans, Payton Jim On and Mahir Khurana - participating in the singles qualifying draw.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Freshmen Payton Jim On and Mahir Khurana played in the round of 64 with Jim On advancing to the next round.
- Jim On defeated Seattle University's Yu Han Hsieh in straight sets 6-0, 6-1 before falling 6-3, 6-4 to Vraj Patel of Pacific in the round of 32.
- Khurana dropped his match to Gonzaga's Oscar Rashed 6-1, 7-6 (7-3).
- Sophomore Tiago Boschmans lost to Sacramento State's Nicholas Miharu Bowles-Rokudo 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) in the round of 32 after an opening round bye.

- The second day of the ITA Regional Championships continues on Friday with the round of 64 main draw for singles and doubles.
