SEATTLE – Among the six Santa Clara men's tennis players still in the main draw of the ITA Northwest Regional Championships on Saturday, the doubles tandem of John Kim and Luca Bluett advanced the farthest before falling in the round of 16.   
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Kim and Bluett won their second straight doubles match in the round of 32, defeating Cal's Alexander Aney and Ethan Schiffman 8-4.
• In the round of 16, the Bronco duo pushed the Washington's pair of Cesar Bouchelaghem and Dzianis Zharyn before losing 8-6.  
• Santa Clara also had two other doubles teams in the round of 32 but both lost.  Timofey Stepanov and Derrick Chen of Cal defeated Alexander Watanabe Eriksson and Tiago Boschmans 8-5 while Portland's Lucas Kimelman and Tom Garcia beat Lukas Maskow and Luca Lemaitre in a tight match, 8-7 (8-6). 
• In singles action, Kim and Watanabe Eriksson played in the round of 32 but were taken down.  
• Soham Purohit of Washington beat Kim 6-3, 6-2 and Cal's Theo Dean was victorious over Watanabe Eriksson 6-4, 6-3.  

NEXT UP:

• The fourth day of the ITA Regional Championships continues on Sunday with the main draw's round of 16 in singles and the quarterfinals in both singles and doubles.  Some Bronco players might play in the consolation matches.  UPDATE: the Broncos concluded play on Saturday.  The consolation match results have been included.
