KAPOLEI, Hawaii - Santa Clara women's golf improved their team score by nine strokes and climbed up the standings into fifth place on the second day of action at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational. The Broncos carded a 6-under 282 on Tuesday and sit at 3-under 573 in total with just 18 holes remaining. Sophomore
Kelsey Kim shot even par in the round and is holding steady inside the top 10 with a tie for eighth at 3-under 141.
ROUND HIGHLIGHTS:
- Santa Clara's team score was the third lowest of the day behind Kansas State (277) and GCU (271).
- Freshmen Amy Im and Alexa Pineda each turned in a 3-under 69 to climb up into a tie for 10th and 15th, respectively.
- Im had a rough start to the round with three consecutive bogeys, but bounced back with a whopping six birdies on the remaining 15 holes.
- Pineda had four birdies against just one bogey as part of her 3-under round.
- Audrey Brust bounced back with an even par 72, a five-stroke improvement from her opening round.
- Colorado State and Kansas State share the team lead at 12-under 564 followed by UC Irvine (569), GCU (572) and the Broncos.
- The Rams' Lacey Uchida continues to hold the individual lead at 9-under 135.
