SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's tennis junior Alexander Watanabe Eriksson returned to his old stomping ground at UC Santa Barbara to win a doubles and a singles match on the first day of the UCSB Invitational on Friday.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Watanabe Eriksson, who played his freshman year at UCSB before transferring to Santa Clara last season, teamed up with Luca Lemaitre to defeat UC San Diego's Pelayo Rodriguez and James Krantz 8-5 in the quarterfinals of the B flight.
- In singles action, the Stockholm, Sweden native downed Sam Devries of UC Davis in three sets 2-6, 6-0, 6-3 in the B flight round of 16 match.
- Lukas Maskow also picked up a round 16 win in the A flight when he beat Hawaii's Quinn Snyder 6-4, 3-6, 7-5.
