No. 66 Men's Tennis Sweeps FGCU

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The No. 66-ranked Santa Clara men's tennis team swept Florida Gulf Coast University 4-0 on Sunday to complete a successful trip to the Sunshine State, having defeated No. 53 South Florida a day earlier. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Even with an early first serve at 9 a.m. local time coupled with the three time hour difference, Santa Clara (7-2) got off to a strong start claiming the doubles point.  It was their seventh doubles point won in nine matches this season.
  • For the second-straight match, the number two duo of Sebastian Buxman and Lukas Maskow clinched the doubles point, defeating Pablo Paternostro and Harry Michalowski 6-2.
  • Playing on court six, Lukas Maskow made quick work of Harry Michalowski 6-3, 6-3 for the first singles point.
  • Buxman bested Paternostro once again, this time in singles play with a 7-5, 6-3 victory on court three to increase the Broncos lead to 3-0.
  • The match clincher came on court two when No. 123-ranked Guillaume Dalmasso defeated Phillipp Bosse 6-4, 7-6 (12-10).
  • FGCU dropped to 1-5 on the year.

  • The Broncos return home to host Cal Poly and New Mexico next weekend.
