SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Strong singles play lifted UC Santa Barbara to a 4-3 win over Santa Clara men's tennis in a nonconference match on Saturday at the Degheri Tennis Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• UC Santa Barbara (1-2) trailed 2-0 before reeling off four-straight singles wins including the match clincher by Gianluca Brunkow over Guillaume Dalmasso 7-5, 7-6 (7-3) on court two.
• Santa Clara (2-0) claimed the doubles point winning their matches on courts one and two.  Playing atop the doubles lineup, the Broncos duo of Christian Lerby and Dalmasso handled Pablo Masjuan and Bruskow 6-4 followed by the doubles point clincher by Luca Lemaitre and Tiago Boschmans over Kai Brady and Lucca Liu 7-5 on court two. 
• Sebastian Buxman took the first singles points to put the Broncos up 2-0 with his straight-set victory over Lucca Liu 6-3, 6-2 on court three. 
• UCSB then strung together four-straight singles victories on courts five, six, one and the clincher on two. 
• With the match clinched, the two schools played it out where Luca Lemaitre defeated Luka Mrsic 2-6, 7-5, 7-5 for the final team score of 4-3.
