No. 54 Men's Tennis Rolls Past Cal Poly to Extend Win Streak to Nine

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – No. 54-ranked Santa Clara men's tennis team extended their win streak to nine matches with a convincing 6-1 victory over Cal Poly in a nonconference contest on Tuesday afternoon at the Degheri Tennis Center.  

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Sebastian Buxman had a hand in clinching both the doubles point and the match to help Santa Clara improve to 14-2 on the year.  In addition to winning nine-straight, the Broncos also pushed the home win streak to seven matches. 
  • Santa Clara and Cal Poly (5-6) split the first two doubles matches before the tandem of Buxman and Lukas Maskow defeated Raz Haviv and Sean Kamyshev 6-4 on court two to take the doubles point.
  • The Broncos pushed the team lead to 3-0 with singles wins on courts two and three.
  • On court two, Guillaume Dalmasso took care of Joe Leather 6-0, 6-4 followed by Luca Lemaitre's win over Fernando Fonseca 6-1, 6-2 on court three.
  • The Mustangs picked up their lone point of the afternoon on court six when Sean Kamyshev defeated Tiago Boschmans 6-0, 7-5. 
  • With SCU ahead 3-1, Buxman closed it out on court four with his 6-2, 6-4 match clinching victory over Colter Smith.
  • The two teams played out the rest of the match with wins by Alexander Watanabe Eriksson and Christian Lerby on courts five and one, respectively.
