SAN DIEGO - Santa Clara men's golf completed the first day of action at the Lamkin, held at the San Diego Country Club, with a 36-hole total of 7-over 583 to finish the day in 15th place.
Jeffrey Kwak had the Broncos' top individual score of the day with 1-under 71-72--143 to tie for 32nd.
ROUND HIGHLIGHTS:
- Both Muzzy Donohue and J.P. Odland carded birdies on par 5s in the opening round. Donohue did so on No. 8 while Odland did it on the 14th.
- Calder Overfelt tied for 51st 2-over 146, as did Nolan Forsman, who had the top 18-hole score of the day for the Broncos with a 70 in the opening round.
- Donohue turned in a 1-under 71 for his 10th-straight sub-par round over the last four tournaments. His streak was broken in the second round with a 5-over 77.
- Colorado and Fresno State are tied for the team lead at 18-under 558 while San Diego's Craig Ronne leads the field at 70-65--135 (-9).
