SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO - The West Coast Conference unveiled the 2023-24 WCC Women's Golf All-Academic Team on Wednesday afternoon, and three Santa Clara Broncos were among the honorees. Seniors
Inara Sharma and
Lauren Shew were among the eight players honored on the first team while sophomore
Audrey Brust was named honorable mention.
Sharma, carrying a 3.81 GPA in psychology, leads the Broncos with a 74.90 scoring average this season and has played in seven total events. She has carded five rounds under par, tied for the best on the team, with a pair of top-20 finishes. That includes a career-best outing at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic where she tied for seventh at 1-under 215. In the season-opening Maui Jim Intercollegiate, Sharma made program history with a second round 67 - tied for the lowest individual round in school history.
Shew, a finance major with a 3.78 GPA, has played in five events this year, with two top-20 finishes of her own. Her best outing of the year was a tie for 13th at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational. Through her five events, Shew is averaging 76.47 strokes per round.
Majoring in public health science and carrying a 3.69 GPA, Brust has played in all eight events this season for the Broncos and is right behind Sharma in scoring average at 74.96. She leads the team with four top-20 outings, including a fourth-place finish at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate where she turned in the second-lowest 54-hole score in program history at 8-under 208. Brust is tied with Sharma with five rounds under par on the season.
