LOS ANGELES – Behind another masterful pitching performance by LMU pitcher Jenna Perez, the Lions defeated Santa Clara softball 4-0 in the series finale on Sunday afternoon to take the WCC series three games to one.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Perez allowed just four hits, all singles, struck out six and walked three over seven innings to improve to 11-9 on the season. 
• LMU (21-22, 4-4 WCC) backed up Perez with a run each in the second and third innings and added two runs in the fifth. 
• In the second, Lauryn Carter doubled in Adele Braun to give the Lions an early lead.
• Mike Chong made it 2-0 in favor of the Lions to driving in Arianna Jaurequi who led the inning off with a double.
• Santa Clara (22-19, 1-3 WCC) kept the game close with starter Hannah Edwards in the circle at 2-0 through the first four innings.  However, the Lions added a pair of insurance runs in the fifth on a single by Hayley Olivas.
• Chong and Olivas each had two hits for LMU.
• Edwards lost her second game of the series and is now 9-5. 

• The Broncos hosts Saint Mary's for a four-game WCC home opening series starting on Friday.
