BREMERTON, Wash. - Santa Clara men's golf finished day one of the 2024 WCC Men's Golf Championship just three strokes over par, shooting a 289-290--579 at the par 72, 7,095-yard Olympic Course at Gold Mountain Golf Course on Friday. The Broncos are currently in seventh place while freshman
Jeffrey Kwak leads the Santa Clara lineup in a tie for 18th at even par.
ROUND HIGHLIGHTS:
- Kwak had a four-stroke improvement from rounds one to two, turning in a 2-under 70 in the second round that featured four birdies against a lone bogey. He climbed six spots in the standings and is five strokes outside of the top 10.
- J.P. Odland also improved in the second round and rolled in four birdie putts of his own as part of a 1-under 71. He is tied for 22nd at 1-over 74-71--145.
- Muzzy Donohue is tied with Odland for 22nd. He started the day red hot with a 3-under 69 in the opening round to finish round one inside the top five of the standings. The graduate tallied five birdies in the round and his lone blemish was a double bogey on the par 5 11th. Unfortunately, Donohue was unable to match his first round success, turning in a 4-over 76 in round two.
- Calder Overfelt and Nolan Forsman are tied for 31st at 4-over 148.
- San Diego surged ahead of LMU in the second round with a 17-under 271 to grab control of the leader board. The Toreros hold a 10-stroke lead at 26-under 550. They also also hold the individual lead in the form of Carson Enright, who holds a two-stroke advantage at 10-under 67-67--134.
