No. 53 Men's Tennis Loses at No. 43 Pepperdine

MALIBU, Calif. – No. 43 Pepperdine downed No. 53 Santa Clara men's tennis 4-0 in a clash between nationally ranked conference foes on Sunday afternoon at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center.  
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Pepperdine (9-10, 3-1 WCC) won two of three doubles matches and were on the winning end in the first three completed singles matches to blank Santa Clara, 4-0.
  • Christian Lerby and Guillaume Dalmasso defeated Linus Halldin and George Davis 6-3 atop the lineup to even the doubles matches at one win apiece but Pietro Fellin and Edward Winter clinched the doubles point with their 7-5 victory over Sebastian Buxman and Lukas Maskow on court two.
  • The Waves rode the momentum into their singles play as Fellin bettered Dalmasso 6-3, 6-1 on court two for the first singles victory. 
  • In a battle between nationally ranked players, No. 38 Winter got the upper hand over No. 81 Lerby 7-5, 6-1 to give the Waves a 3-0 advantage on the team scoreboard.
  • Zach Stephens closed out the match with his straight set victory over Arjun Honnappa 6-3, 6-4 on court six to send Santa Clara (14-5, 1-3 WCC) to their third-straight loss, all against conference opponents.
