Team and Individual Standings
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Santa Clara freshman golfer
J.P. Odland turned in a couple of round in 60s and finished the day at 7-under 137 to conclude day one of the Gaucho Invitational in third place. He is one of three Broncos in the top 25 of the standings while Santa Clara as a team shot a 4-under 284-288--572 on the par-72, 7,159 yard course to finish the day in fifth.
ROUND HIGHLIGHTS:
- Odland opened the day with a 4-under 68 in the opening round and followed up with a 3-under 69. He tallied 11 total birdies on the day with six coming in the second round.
- Odland now has a team-high 10 rounds in the 60s for the season.
- Odland is just three strokes behind Nevada's Enrique Dimayuga (10-under 134) for the individual lead.
- Muzzy Donohue also turned in a 4-under 68 in the opening round, carding five birdies and just one bogey over the 18 holes. He slipped a bit in round two with a 2-over 74 and is tied for 12th at 2-under 142.
- Jeffrey Kwak is 1-over 72-73--145 where he is tied for 23rd.
- Cameron Kaiser, who was a late add to the Broncos lineup after Calder Overfelt was scratched due to illness, shot a 76 in round one and bounced back in round two with an even par 72 to finish the day in a tie for 38th at 4-over 148.
- Nolan Forsman rounded out the Broncos five with a tie for 56th at 8-over 156.
- Nevada holds the team lead at 20-under 556 while LMU and Utah are tied for second at 12-under 564. UTEP is in fourth with a five-stroke advantage over the Broncos at 9-under 567.
