Women’s Tennis Signs Battle Tested Transfer from Nebraska

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Santa Clara women's tennis program signed Jillian Roa, a three-year player from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.  She will have one year of eligibility remaining with the Broncos.
 
In her three seasons with the Cornhuskers, Roa compiled an overall record of 25-19 in singles and 16-10 in doubles.  In the dual match season, she went 14-10 and 4-0, respectively, in singles and doubles action. 
 
"I chose Santa Clara because of everything it offers - a coaching staff and support system that can help me further develop as a person and as a player, great academics, a beautiful campus, and teammates that I am very excited to work with. Go Broncos," said Roa.
 
Roa received a bevy of academic and sportsmanship accolades during her time in Lincoln. 
 
The Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar earned the Big Ten Distinguished Scholar honors,  Academic All-Big Ten honors, College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors, and was named ITA Scholar Athlete in 2023. 
 
She is a four-time Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll selection and a  three-time member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team along with Nebraska's Big Ten Sportsmanship Award winner. 
 
Roa also received the ITA Central Region Cissie Leary Sportsmanship and ITA Central Region Arthur Ashe Leadership/Sportsmanship awards in 2023.
 
"We are excited to welcome Jillian to our team," said Broncos head coach Allie Will.  "Her positive attitude, and strong display of sportsmanship will contribute significantly to fostering a supportive and motivating environment for her teammates."

Roa is the third signee in the 2024 recruiting class.
