DAVIS, Calif. – Santa Clara men's tennis freshmen Luca Bluett and Mahir Khurana both advanced to the singles finals of their respective flights with a pair of wins on Saturday at the Aggie Invitational. It was part of a seven singles and one doubles win total for the Broncos during the second day of competition.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Playing in the blue flight, Bluett defeated Gonzaga's Jay Fairclaw 6-2, 6-3 in the quarterfinals and downed UC Davis' Lucas Bollinger 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (7-5) in the semifinal round. He will face Cal Poly's Raz Haviv in the finals on Sunday. Haviv defeated Valentin Faure in the other semifinal match.
- Khurana made it to the grey flight finals by beating Wian Roothman of Cal Poly 4-6, 7-5, 6-1 in the quarterfinals, followed by Oscar Rashad of Gonzaga 6-1, 2-6, 7-5 in the semis to have the opportunity to face Cal Poly's Clayton Anderson in Sunday's finals.
- Lukas Maskow won his white flight quarterfinal match before losing in the semifinal round to UC Davis' Ryan Torres.
