Women's Soccer Picks Up Win Against San Francisco

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's soccer picked up a 1-0 win over San Francisco Saturday afternoon to begin a three match homestand. The Broncos (7-6-3, 3-2-3 WCC) scored early in the match and were able to hold off San Francisco's (2-9-4, 1-5-2 WCC) pushes throughout the day.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The lone tally came off the foot of Leah O'Brien in the 14th minute. Lia Henkelmann rolled a pass to Kat Jordan who dribbled up the field and slid a pass to an open O'Brien near the top of the box. After a couple touches, O'Brien hit a shot through a defender's legs and out of the reach of the goalkeeper.
 
NOTABLE NUMBERS:
  • Santa Clara finished the day with 12 shots while putting four on goal. The Broncos also drew three corners.
  • San Francisco attempted nine shots with just one going on frame. The Dons earned three corners as well.
  • Ally Harrison made one save to pick up her first career shutout in her third match. She made some nice plays coming off her line to disrupt Dons' attacks.
  • Tyra Bengtsson-Stenseth made three saves for San Francisco.
