Late Scoring Leads to Senior Day Draw for Women's Soccer

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Late fireworks led to a 1-1 draw between Santa Clara women's soccer and LMU Saturday afternoon as part of Senior Day. The Lions (5-5-5, 2-3-4 WCC) got on the board first late in the second half, but the Broncos (7-6-4, 3-2-4 WCC) were able to get the equalizer in the final five minutes.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • LMU struck first in the 76th minute. A long ball by Emma Myklebust made to the box where Callan Harrington headed it down to the feet of Kennedy Swift. Swift gathered and hit it into the back of the net.
  • Santa Clara evened things up just over 10 minutes later in the 86th. Raygen Lewis passed to Kat Jordan on the wing. Jordan got around a defender and sent a long cross in front of the face of goal that Adee Goulden hit out of the air right inside the far post.

NOTABLE NUMBERS:
  • Santa Clara ended the day with 24 shots with seven going on frame. The Broncos also earned seven corners.
  • LMU got off just two shots and just one on frame. The Lions had four corners.
  • Senior Ally Reynolds started in net for the Broncos and faced just the two shots.
  • JJ Hoover made six saves in the match, including one just off her fingertips to stop Santa Clara's best chance of the match up until the goal.
