PALM DESERT, Calif. - Santa Clara women's golf opened play at the Alice and John Wallace Classic with a 15-over 299 opening round to finish the day in a tie for 13th. Sophomore Kelsey Kim led the way individually shooting one over the minimum to finish the day tied for 20th.
ROUND HIGHLIGHTS:
- Santa Clara combined for six birdies and 59 pars throughout the opening day of action.
- Kim was 1-over 72 with a pair of birdies while Chloe Lam finished a stroke behind in a tie for 30th at 2-over 73.
- Amy Im (76), Audrey Brust (78), and Proud Sriwongngam (79) rounded out the scoring for the Broncos, finishing 62nd, 80th, and 87th respectively.
- Oregon and USC were the only teams in the field of 21 to finish the round under par with the Ducks leading the pack at 8-under 276.
- A trio of Ducks (Karen Tsuru, Suvichaya Vinijchaitham and Kiara Romero) tied with San Jose State's Moa Andersson for the individual lead at 3-under 68.
