SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Santa Clara men's basketball senior guard
Adama-Alpha Bal has been named to the 2024-25 WCC Men's Basketball All-Conference First Team, as announced by the conference on Tuesday. It is the second consecutive season that Bal has been honored as a first team selection. Three Broncos in total were honored with
Carlos Stewart Jr. and
Christoph Tilly both earning a spot on the second team.
Bal's selection makes this the fifth-consecutive season that at least one Bronco has earned first team honors. It is the longest such streak since 2004-05 through 2008-09. It is also the fourth-straight year in which at least three Broncos were honored
A native of Le Mans, France, Bal leads the team and ranks 15
th in the WCC in scoring at 13.1 points per game and is second in the league with an average of 2.3 3-pointers per contest. He also leads the team in assists (3.1) and has a team-high 21 double figure scoring outings, including a career-high 27-point outing against Kennesaw State.
Stewart is also now a two-time All-WCC selection after garnering a first team pick as a sophomore in 2022-23. The Baton Rouge, La. product led the Broncos in scoring in league play at 13.2 points and is the team leader through all games in steals with an average of 1.2 per contest. Stewart has 20 double figure scoring outings on the year, including a team-high six 20-point games. His best of the bunch was a 25-point performance on 5-of-8 3-point shooting – all in the second half alone – in Santa Clara's home victory over San Francisco.
After receiving an honorable mention nod as a sophomore, Tilly finds himself as a second team selection after averaging 12.4 points per game overall and 12.5 points in league play despite missing three games due to injury. The Berlin, Germany product shot a team-high 55.0 percent from the field and tied Stewart with 20 double figure scoring outings, including a pair of double-doubles. His most recent double-double came in the regular season finale at Pacific where the big man pulled down a career-best 12 rebounds to go with 21 points.
Santa Clara concluded the regular season with a 20-11 record overall and was 12-6 in conference play to lock up fourth place in the final WCC standings. The Broncos will be the No. 4 seed in the upcoming 2025 Credit Union 1 WCC Men's Basketball Championship in Las Vegas and will take on the winner of Pepperdine/Portland and Oregon State in Sunday's quarterfinal round.
