One More Transfer Joins Women's Basketball

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's basketball has added its seventh transfer in Ashley Hawkins who played at Gardner Webb the last two seasons. The grad transfer hails from Long Beach, Calif. where she attended Wilson High School.
 
The 2025 Big South Player of the Year, Hawkins was also named First Team All-Big South after leading her team with 18.9 ppg, 4.9 apg, and 36.1 mpg while starting all 29 of her team's games. She also added 4.0 rpg to go with 1.3 spg. She surpassed the 1,000-career point mark during the season as well.
 
In 2023-24, Hawkins started all 30 games for the Runnin' Bulldogs and led the team with 15.7 ppg, 5.6 apg, and 33.8 mpg. Her points per game and assists per game were third and first, respectively, in the Big South. She was named to the Big South All-Conference Team, the Big South Newcomer of the Year, and the Big South Scholar Athlete of the Year.
 
Hawkins spent the 2022-23 season at Cypress College where she played in 31 games while starting 30. She averaged 23.1 ppg on 43.8-percent shooting and added 7.8 rpg and 4.9 agp. During that season, Hawkins recorded nine double-doubles, including a 51-point, 11 rebounds game. She helped the Chargers to the State Playoffs and was named WBCA All-American honorable mention as well as CCCAA First Team-All State.
 
As a freshman, Hawkins played at CSUN where she appeared in 26 games and started twice. Despite just 10 mpg, she finished third on the team in assists.
 
Hawkins was a four-year varsity letterman at Wilson High School and took home several awards including All-CIFSS Division 3A Player of the Year, Long Beach Press Telegram Dream Player of the Year, Cal-Hi Sports Second Team All-State, Moore League MVP, SportsBook Live Division 3A Player of the Year, and SportsBook Live All-LA County 2nd Team. She also helped he team to the 2020 CIF Southern Section Division 3A Championship. Hawkins was named to the CIFSS Academic Honor Roll all four years of high school.
 
She played club for SoCal Hoops Elite.
