Men's Golf Selected For 2025 NCAA D1 Championship

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – For the first time since 2018 and just the third time ever in program history, Santa Clara men's golf has punched their ticket to the NCAA Division I Championship. The Broncos were selected to take part in the Reno Regional, which will be played May 12-14 at the Montreux Golf and Country Club and hosted by the University of Nevada.

The Broncos are returning to the NCAA Championship after a fantastic season that saw the team rank 45th in the final collegiate golf rankings -  the highest ranking for the program at the end of the regular season in their history. The Broncos finished top-five in eight of their 12 events this season, including a victory at the season-opening Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate and a third-place finish at the 2025 WCC Championship. Santa Clara also posted a runner-up finish at the Bridgestone Collegiate Invitational and third-place finishes at the John Burns Intercollegiate and Nick Watney Invite.

Three Broncos earned All-WCC honors with J.P. Odland and Matt Robles earning a spot on the 10-man all-conference team and Alvaro Muller being named honorable mention. Robles was also tabbed as the league's Freshman of the Year, becoming just the fourth player in program history to win the award.

Santa Clara is averaging 282.56 strokes per round as a team, shattering the previous school record of 285.06 set in 2017-18 – the last team selected for the NCAA Championship. The average also ranks 18th-best in NCAA D1 this season. Individually, Odland leads the team at 70.86 strokes per round, which ranks third-best in program history.

Santa Clara's previous two trips to an NCAA Regional came in 2006 (finished 21st at the West Regional in Arizona) and 2018 (finished 11th at the Raleigh Regional). Julien Paltrinieri was the most recent Bronco to compete as an individual, doing so at the 2023 Stanford Regional.

Regional play consists of a total of 81 teams and 45 individuals not belonging to a competing team playing across six different regional sites. The top five teams (30 in total) and the top individual (five total) at each site will advance to the 2025 NCAA D1 Championship Finals, May 23-28, in Carlsbad, Calif.

The Reno Regional will consist of 8-seed Santa Clara, host-Texas, Virginia, Alabama, Duke, Mississippi State, BYU, San Diego, Cal, GCU, Sam Houston, East Tennessee State, Central Arkansas and Fairfield.
