Matt McCarty Set To Make Masters Debut

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's golf alum Matt McCarty is set to play one of the game's grandest events this week as he takes to Augusta National to play in the Masters for the first time. It will be his second start in a PGA Tour major championship of his young career.

A native of Scottsdale, Ariz., McCarty is making his Masters debut in his first full season as a member of the PGA Tour. He made his initial debut on the Tour in 2022 when he qualified for the U.S. Open, and spent three seasons on the Korn Ferry Tour. His final year on the Korn Ferry Tour was one to remember as he captured the 2024 Korn Ferry Tour Player of the Year Award after posting three wins and nine top-10 finishes while setting the Tour's single-season scoring average record of 68.38 strokes over 25 starts.

McCarty made his 2024-25 debut on the PGA Tour on October 6th at the Sanderson Farms Championship where he made the cut. Just one week later, he walked away with his first PGA Tour victory after claiming the Black Desert Championship at 23-under 261.

Since the turn of the calendar, the three-time All-WCC selection has played in 10 events in which he has made the cut seven times and posted a pair of top-25 finishes. Entering the Masters, he has made five-straight cuts with a tie for 16th at the Valspar Championship and a tie for 20th at THE PLAYERS Championship.

McCarty has also earned exemptions and will play at the 2025 U.S. Open and PGA Championship. He is set to become just the second Bronco to play in the Masters, joining Jim Wichers, who also played in the three majors during his lengthy stay on the Tour from 1966-79.

The Masters will be played April 10-13 with daily coverage on ESPN and CBS beginning with Thursday's opening round.
