MARICOPA, Ariz. - On a day where strong winds caused unfavorable playing conditions, Santa Clara women's golf rose to the challenge and shot the best round of the day among the 10-team field at the 2025 National Golf Invitational to climb to the top of the leader board with only 18 holes remaining. The Broncos shot 7-over 295 in Saturday's second round at the par 72 Ak Chin Southern Dunes Golf Course, which was 10 strokes better than any other team in the field. SCU overtook day one leader Eastern Michigan to claim the top spot in the standings at 12-over 588 and lead the Eagles by 10 strokes as they head into Sunday's final round.
All five of Santa Clara's individuals are inside the top-25 in the standings with
Kelsey Kim,
Proud Sriwongngam and
Audrey Brust all inside the top six.
ROUND HIGHLIGHTS:
- Santa Clara's team score of 295 was the only sub-300 score of the day. Seattle had the second-best score at 17-over 305.
- Kelsey Kim shot even par to climb eight spots into a sole possession of second place. She trails Eastern Michigan's Angelica Holman, who maintains a two-stroke lead at 1-under 143 despite shooting 2-over par on Saturday.
- Proud Sriwongngam is just one stroke behind Kim at 2-over 70-76--146.
- Audrey Brust had the best individual round of the day of anyone in the 49-player field, turning in a 2-under 70 that included five birdies to offset three bogeys. Not surprisingly, she had the largest jump of any player in the field, vaulting 26 spots into a tie for sixth place at 3-over 77-70--147.
- Chloe Lam (8-over 152) is tied for 19th and Amy Im (10-over 154) is tied for 25th, respectively.
