SANTA CLARA, Calif. – It was a good start to the season for No. 16 Santa Clara women's soccer as they took care of business with a convincing 3-0 victory over San Jose State. The Broncos (1-0) got the scoring going early and added on throughout the night while keeping the Spartans (0-1) on the back foot for much of the night.

NOTABLE NUMBERS:

• Santa Clara held a 13-5 edge in shots while holding a 10-3 advantage in shots on goal.
• The Broncos also drew 12 corners while surrendering two.
• The goal scorers were Kennedy Schoennauer (11', assisted by Lauren Hunter), Jalana Kimber (39', assisted by Mailin Orozco), and Kat Jordan (70', assisted by Leah O'Brien and Keira Martin).
• Ally Reynolds played the first half in goal, making her first collegiate start and got the win while not facing a shot. Amaris Franco played the second half, making three saves.
• This was the fifth season in a row Santa Clara has beaten San Jose State in the season opener, outscoring the Spartans 13-0 in those matches. The Broncos are also 11-1 in their last 12 season openers.
• Santa Clara is now 23-0 all-time against San Jose State.
• Eight Broncos made their collegiate debuts: Franco, Martin, Kimber, Hildi Benediktsdottir, Izzy De Buyl, Kaylee Smith, Adee Goulden, and Raygen Lewis.
