SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Trailing 1-0 with less than 90 seconds remaining in the match, Niv Berkovitz came through with the game-tying goal to help Santa Clara men's soccer fight back to a 1-all draw against UC Davis in the Broncos home opener on Sunday night at Stevens Stadium.  
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: 

• Berkovitz leveled the match with a header on assists from the freshmen duo of Ethan Martinez and Alejandro Arenas at the 88:39 mark.  Martinez lofted a free kick to the left edge of the six yard box where the 6-foot-3 Arenas muscled across a header back to the middle to the awaiting Berkovitz who beat goalkeeper Noah Schwengeler. 
• It was the first goal for Berkovitz in a Bronco uniform after transferring from SMU.  Arenas also recorded his first career assist and it was the second for Martinez who also had a hand in Santa Clara's (0-0-2) lone goal against Cleveland State in the season opener.  
• UC Davis (0-1-1) got on the scoreboard in the 35th minute when Cason Goodman took advantage of an unforced turnover by Santa Clara.  A backwards pass from inside the midfield circle got past a couple of the Broncos right to the foot of Goodman and after a couple of touches, unleashed a left footed shot past the diving Jackson Ozburn to the lower 90.

• The series is tied 4-4-4.
• Both Schwengeler and Ozburn had three saves apiece. 
• Goodman and Will Wiersdorf had game-high three shots each with all of Goodman's attempts on frame.  
• Sophomores Jackson Blake and Khalil Rashad saw their first career action.
