SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Santa Clara men's soccer goalkeeper Jackson Ozburn has been named West Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week following his four-save shutout effort against LMU on Saturday.
The senior recorded his third clean sheet of the season in the 2-0 victory over the Lions to help the Broncos claim their first WCC win of the season.
Ozburn made a pair of saves in each half. His first save came just five minutes into the game turning away Adrian Alvarez's header attempt. His best save came in the 61st minute with the Broncos holding onto a 1-0 lead, when he made a diving save of Anthony Boyadjian's shot.
On the season, the Sammamish, Washington native leads the conference in both save percentage (.797) and goals-against-average (1.09).
This is the first weekly league honor for Ozburn this season after winning it three times last year.
