HOPEWELL, N.J. - Sophie Glancey of Santa Clara women's basketball has been named to the 2027 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award Preseason Watch List. The list, presented by Her Hoop Stats, is comprised of 25 student-athletes. Glancey was also on the list last season.

To be eligible for this award, players must compete in a conference deemed to be "mid-major." The following conferences are considered high-major for the purposes of this award and thus ineligible: ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, and SEC. Players competing in the re-formed Pac-12 are eligible.

The 15-player midseason watch list will be announced in January, followed by 10 semifinalists announced in February. The five finalists will be announced in early March, with the winner announced around the Final Four. The list is fluid, and players may play their way on or off it over the course of the season. 

Last season Glancey started all 18 games she appeared in before going down with a season-ending elbow injury. Glancey made her presence known in those 18 games, averaging 14.6 ppg and leading the team with 7.0 rpg. She shot 48.7-percent from the field and 81.7-percent from the free throw line.

Before her injury, Glancey was 14th in nation in blocks and and 21st in blocks per game while placing third in the WCC in those categories along with total rebounds. The team was 15-4 with her in the lineup.

On December 15, she was named the WCC Player of the Week after scoring 29 with eight rebounds in the Broncos 91-72 win at Grand Canyon. After the season, Glancey was named as a finalist for the Lilly Women's College All-Star Game.

The Broncos open the season at Wyoming on November 2. The home-opener comes against local rival Stanford on November 13. Tickets can be purcahsed here.
