SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — The Santa Clara University beach volleyball team closed out Cal Poly's Mustang Roundup on Saturday by facing a pair of top-20 opponents, dropping decisions to No. 19 Arizona, 4-1, and No. 4 Cal Poly, 5-0, at the Swanson Beach Volleyball Complex.
 
vs. No. 19 ARIZONA

• Santa Clara (9-7) showed its resilience against the Wildcats (11-4), with three of four completed pairs going the distance in three sets.
   
• Parouse and Stoddard delivered the lone point for the Broncos at the 5s, rallying from a first-set loss to defeat Brooke Boyko and Sadie Moore, 11-21, 26-24, 16-14, in one of the day's most competitive matches. At the No. 1 pairs, Snipes and Wood pushed Arizona's Carlie Cisneros and Regan Holmer all the way to a third set before dropping the decision, 18-21, 21-19, 15-12.
   
• Cukjati and Wilson were equally tested at the 2s, falling to Madeline Walker and Ashlyn Zilliken in three sets, 23-25, 21-17, 15-10. Cantlen and Urbina dropped a 21-19, 21-17 decision to Meghan O'Meara and Adri Nieves Papaleo at the 3s, while Arizona's Sophia Winter and Jamie Streit took the 4s point after the Broncos' pair retired.

vs. No. 4 CAL POLY

• The Broncos closed the tournament against the host Mustangs (14-2), pushing No. 4 Cal Poly in several tight sets throughout the match.
   
• Snipes and Wood faced Ella Connor and Erin Inskeep at the No. 1 pairs, while Cukjati and Wilson dropped a 21-10, 21-13 decision to Izzy Martinez and Logan Walter at the 2s. Mandy Hansen and Niederman fell to Ashleigh Adams and Quinn Perry at the 3s, dropping the opener by only three points, 21-18, before falling in the second, 21-14.
   
• Cantlen and Urbina dropped a 21-13, 21-13 decision to Elise Lenahan and Julia Westby at the 4s, while Parouse and Stoddard pushed the match to extra points in the first set at the 5s before falling to Hannah Byers and Maddy Byrne, 22-20, 21-14.

COMING UP

• The Broncos return to action on Friday on the road at San Jose State. The match marks the third of four scheduled meetings this season between the crosstown rivals. Santa Clara won the first, 5-0, on Feb. 20, and the Spartans won the second, 4-1, on Feb. 28.
