SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis player
Daniella Dimitrova was named West Coast Conference Singles Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Dimitrova won two singles matches atop the lineup last week.
Against CSUN on Thursday, the Bronco senior defeated Angelo Ho in three sets 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 to clinch the team victory 4-1.
The following day versus No. 64 Cal Poly, Dimitrova beat Jessica MacCallum 6-1, 6-2 for the Broncos' first singles win to even the team score at 1-all before the Mustangs prevailed 5-2.
Dimitrova leads the team with six singles victories this spring, all coming on court one.
This is the first weekly conference accolade for Dimitrova. She is also the first player under head coach
Allie Will-Van Alstyne to garner the weekly conference recognition. The third year head coach has the program on an upward trajectory, presiding an eight game improvement over her first two season after taking over a team that went winless.
Santa Clara next plays at San José State on Thursday.
