STANFORD, Calif. - Santa Clara women's golfer
Kelsey Kim shot 1-over 72 on Monday in the opening round of the 2026 NCAA Stanford Regional and finds herself in a tie for 24th with 36 holes remaining at the par-71, 6,267-yard Stanford Golf Course.
Kim, just the third player in program history to play in a NCAA Regional, had a mostly clean round in her regional debut. The junior had a bogey-free front nine, but notched a pair of of bogeys on Nos. 10 and 12. Sandwiched between them, however, was a birdie on the par-4 No. 11 hole to keep herself at just 1-over the minimum. Kim is currently in an 11-way tie for 24th along with fellow individuals Leia Chung (Boise State) and Adora Liu (Cal). New Mexico State's Emma Bunch, also playing as an individual, has a four-stroke lead over the rest of the 78-player field at 7-under 64 while the host team Stanford leads Oregon State by four strokes in the team standings.
The Stanford Regional, one of six regionals that make up the first round of the 2026 NCAA Women's Golf Championship, will continue tomorrow with 18 more holes before wrapping up Wednesday with the final 18. The top six teams and the top-finishing individual not associated with an advancing team will all move on to the 2026 NCAA Championship in Carlsbad, Calif. Kim is slated to tee off the second round at 9:50 a.m. PT.
