STANFORD, Calif. - Santa Clara's
Kelsey Kim could not have asked for a much better day on the links in Tuesday's second round of the 2026 NCAA Stanford Regional. The junior shot an outstanding 5-under 66, tied for the lowest 18-hole score to par in program history, and as a result finds herself in sole possession of ninth place ahead of Wednesday's final round. After two rounds of play at the par-71, 6,267-yard Stanford Golf Course, Kim is 4-under 72-66--138 and just five strokes off of the lead.
ROUND HIGHLIGHTS:
- Kim's score of 5-under par tied her own record of 5-under 67 in the third round of the 2026 San Diego State Classic for the lowest in program history.
- The Fullerton native tallied seven total birdies for the day with three on the back nine before making the turn and collecting four more on the front, including on back-to-back holes on Nos. 7 and 8 to close out the day.
- Kim climbed 15 spots in the individual standings and has the second-lowest score amongst individuals not attached to a team in the 77-player field. She is within five strokes of New Mexico State's Emma Bunch, also playing as an individual, for the individual lead at 9-under 133. Pepperdine's Jeneath Wong (134) and Stanford's Paula Martin Sampedro (135) are currently in second and third, respectively.
- Kim now has 16 rounds under par to her credit for the season and 25 in her three-year career - both are the most in program history.
The Stanford Regional will conclude tomorrow with the final round of 18 holes. Upon conclusion, the top five teams and low individual not attached to an advancing team will advance to participate in the 2026 Women's Golf National Championship, May 22-27, in Carlsbad, Calif. Kim is set to tee off the final round at 9:50 a.m. PT.
