Lions Even Series with Broncos, Winning 10-6

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Loyola Marymount scored four runs in the eighth inning to insure a 10-6 victory over visiting Santa Clara Saturday at Page Stadium. Geoff Klein went 4-for-4 for Santa Clara and Ryan Rieger drove in three runs.

Santa Clara (22-31; 7-13 WCC) has lost 7 of 9 heading into Sunday's season finale. Senior Alex Rivers (5-9) started and was charged with four runs before leaving in the sixth trailing 5-2.

LMU (23-32; 5-15 WCC) sophomore Martin Viramontes worked 6-plus innings and pitched out of trouble on a number of occasions en route to the victory. Viramontes (4-7) allowed four runs on 10 hits and four walks before giving way to Chris Eusebio who dealt the rest of the way.

Klein did all he could in the loss for Santa Clara, hitting his 19th double and driving RBI number 45. Tommy Medica went 1-for-3 and scored three times. The Bronco bullpen allowed five runs over two and a third innings, including three runs (two earned) charged to Jon Hughes.
