SANTA CLARA, Calif. — The Santa Clara University baseball program announced the hiring of Josh Goossen-Brown as the team's new Assistant Coach. Goossen-Brown brings a wealth of experience from his previous roles, including his most recent position as Director of Player Development at the University of Southern California.
Goossen-Brown officially joined the Santa Clara coaching staff on Monday, adding his extensive expertise in player development to the team.

Goossen-Brown's career is marked by significant accomplishments. At USC, he worked directly with the pitching coach to enhance the daily planning, bullpen operations, and pitcher development, contributing to a top-five national pitching staff and USC's first NCAA Super Regional appearance in over two decades. Prior to his tenure at USC, Goossen-Brown served as a Minor League Pitching Coach for the Arizona Diamondbacks from 2023 to 2025. He coached at both the ACL level and the Low-A affiliate Visalia Rawhide, where he focused on player development and in-game execution. Notably, he spearheaded the integration of the KinaTrax motion-capture lab into the player development workflows, creating a model that streamlined data into actionable reports used throughout the organization.
Goossen-Brown's coaching career began at Los Angeles Valley College, where he served as a part-time pitching coach from 2018 to 2024. He also coached the Arroyo Seco Saints, a college summer team, and has been a private pitching coach through his own company, Team Goose Baseball, LLC, working with athletes across various levels, including MLB and collegiate players.
His playing career was equally impressive. A standout at both the University of San Diego and CSUN, Goossen-Brown excelled as a pitcher and a hitter before being drafted by the Chicago White Sox in 2014. He played three seasons in the minors and continued his playing career in independent leagues.
Josh Goossen-Brown holds a Master's degree in Kinesiology from Azusa Pacific University and a Master's in Business from the University of San Diego, alongside a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology from CSUN.
