RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Senior Briana Knight got Santa Clara going with an RBI-triple in the second inning and freshman Breezy Bernard (pictured) hit two doubles as the Broncos defeated Brown 6-4 Saturday morning at the UCR Softball Tournament in Riverside.

Santa Clara (5-23) also received solid pitching performances from freshman Jaymi Bautista-Geiger, Briana Rios and Jessica Turner to hold off Brown (3-10), who had edged SCU Friday. 

Bernard's double to left-centerfield led off the bottom of the second inning and Knight hit an RBI-triple moments later to put SCU in front. Ashley Haney plated Knight on a SAC bunt and it was Jamie Wallis hitting an RBI-double in the third to spark another two-run inning for the Broncos, which pushed the lead to 4-0.

All three Broncos pitchers were effective, with Rios (2-5) working the middle-innings and Turner coming on in the late stages to earn the save.
