Box Score PALO ALTO, Calif. – Santa Clara suffered a 5-0 loss at sixth-ranked Stanford Tuesday night in the first midweek game of the 2022 season.
Alex Reelfs got the start for the Broncos (1-3) and stranded six runners over the first 3 innings of work to keep the Cardinal (3-1) off the board but his luck ran out in the fourth. After two runners reached with one out, Reelfs was lifted for Nick Sando who came in and walked the first batter he faced to load the bases. After a strikeout, Brock Jones cleared the bases with a double to right center.
Reelfs (0-1) ended up taking the loss while allowing three runs on three hits and four walks with a strikeout in 3 1/3 innings.
Jones finished 2-for-3 with a double, triple and two walks. Braden Montgomery and Adam Crampton each added RBIs for the Cardinal with seven batters getting in the hit column.

Santa Clara's best chance to get to Uber came in the first. With Coleman Brigman on first, Matt Jew smoked a line drive but the second baseman perfectly timed a jump to snag it out of the air.
Jew added a single later in the game while JonJon Berring and Efrain Manzo both contributed singles as well.
