Baseball Splits at Texas A&M Saturday

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Santa Clara baseball split with Texas A&M Saturday in a doubleheader. The Aggies (9-5) took game one 10-2 in seven innings with the Broncos (9-5) taking the finale 16-5.

GAME 1
Thing started poorly for Santa Clara as Texas A&M scored three runs in each of the first two innings and Aggies' starter Micah Dallas was in control from the start.

Dallas (3-0) tossed 6 innings while allowing a pair of runs on six hits with a walk and seven strikeouts to get the win.

Four different Texas A&M players had two hits with Jack Moss scoring three times with an RBI and Brett Minnich adding two runs scored and three RBIs. Logan Britt also added a pair of RBIs as well.

Santa Clara's runs came in the fifth on back-to-back two out singles by Michael O'Hara and Coleman Brigman.

C. Brigman finished with two of the team's six this in the game.

Skylar Hales (1-2) started and took the loss. In 3 innings, he allowed six runs on eight hits with four walks and four strikeouts.

GAME 2
The Santa Clara bats woke up the second game of the day and pounded out 17 hits while scoring 16 runs, led by a six-run fourth and a five-run eighth.

C. Brigman had a huge game, finishing 4-for-6 with a double, two runs scored, and two RBIs. John Hanley added three hits with two RBIs and three runs scored and Eamonn Lance, Dawson Brigman, and Cal Christofori all added two hits apiece. Every Broncos collected at least one hit and scored a run with eight knocking in at least one run.

Cole Kitchen started but got a no-decision in 4 1/3 innings of work. Nick Sando (2-0) picked up the win, tossing 4 2/3 innings and allowing two runs on two hits with three walks and seven strikeouts.

The Aggies briefly looked like they may have a comeback in them and scored two in the seventh to make it a 10-5 game but it was the last runs they would score.

Troy Claunch finished the game 4-for-4 with a double, an RBI, and two runs scored with Moss and Minnich each adding two hits.

The starter Nathan Detmer (1-2) took the loss. He went 3-plus and allowed four runs on six hits with a walk and two strikeouts.

The teams complete the series tomorrow at 9 a.m. Pacific.
