SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Arthur Neuhaus and Guillaume Dalmasso got off Santa Clara men's tennis to a good start when they defeated the No. 79-ranked doubles team of Renaud Lefevre and Vignesh Gogineni but the Broncos could not sustain the momentum in the 5-2 loss to No. 62 Yale at the Degheri Tennis Center on Monday.  

It was the start that Santa Clara (8-6) was looking for against a nationally ranked opponent when Neuhaus and Dalmasso easily handled Lefevre and Gogineni 6-2 on court one to win the first doubles match of the afternoon.  However, Yale (9-5) came back to take the remaining two doubles matches to secure the doubles point.  Playing on court three, Eric Li and Michael Sun defeated Jack Pulliam and Santiago Hinojosa 6-1 to put the Bulldogs up 1-0 on the team scoreboard.  

Yale picked up the first two singles win to take a 3-0 lead before Mann Shah put the Broncos on the board with a 7-5, 6-4 straight-set victory over Luke Neal on court four to cut into the deficit at 3-1.  

Santa Clara looked to stretch out the match on court two but Gogineni got the better of Dalmasso this time, winning a prolonged second set to clinch the match, 6-2, 7-6 (11-9).  

The Broncos also got a singles win from Christian Lerby.

The Broncos resume West Coast Conference action with a pair of road contests at Pacific and Saint Mary's on Saturday and Sunday.
