Box Score SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's basketball returned home with a 67-38 win over Jessup Tuesday evening. The Broncos (3-1) used a monster third quarter to pull away from the Warriors (2-2).
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

• After a slow start shooting, Santa Clara rattled off eight points in a row to grow the lead to 12-4. The teams were back-and-forth the remainder of the period and the Broncos led 23-13 at the first break.
• Neither team did much in the second quarter with the teams going a combined 7-for-31 from the field and scoring a total of 17 points. Santa Clara ended the half on top 32-21.
• The third quarter saw the Broncos stretch their lead and put the game away. A 10-2 run started the period, with six points coming from Olivia Pollerd. Santa Clara closed the quarter with the final 12, capped by Maddie Naro's 3-pointer at the buzzer to make it a 57-29 game.
• The fourth was another slow quarter for both teams with a combined 21 points.

 
NOTABLE NUMBERS:

•  Santa Clara shot 43.1-percent from the field but struggled from downtown going just 4-of-21.
• Jessup was held to 29.3-percent shooting and 4-of-19 from beyond the arc.
• Pollerd led all scorers with 24 points on 10-of-17 shooting and added five rebounds with four blocks. She went 9-of-10 from inside the arc. Malia Latu ended up with xxx and seven rebounds while Maddie Naro and Kaya Ingram both scored nine. Naro added five rebounds and five assists. Hannah Rapp pulled down a game-high eight boards to go with four assists.
• Andheya Aurelio scored a team-high seven for the Warriors with Amari Guiton adding six points and five rebounds.
• The Broncos forced 16 turnovers and held an 18-2 advantage in points off turnovers.
• Santa Clara had a 42-20 edge in points in the paint.
• The Broncos had 18 assists on 28 made baskets.
• Eight of the 10 Broncos to see minutes scored.
