Box Score MALIBU, Calif. – Santa Clara women's basketball picked up an early holiday present with a 70-69 win at Pepperdine on Saturday afternoon. The Broncos (7-5, 1-1 WCC) were able to leave Malibu by overcoming a late Waves (5-5, 0-1 WCC) run and hitting a game-winning triple in the final minute.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After going back-and-forth for most of the first quarter, Pepperdine scored the final five points of the period to take a 16-13 lead after the first 10 minutes.
- A 9-2 run for Santa Clara put the Broncos up four but the Waves came right back with a 7-0 run of their own to get back out on top. The teams exchanged buckets the rest of the way and Pepperdine was up 34-32 at the half.
- The third quarter belonged to the Broncos. They connected on five 3-pointers in the period from four different players and took a 56-51 lead into the fourth.
- Up seven with under five minutes to go, Santa Clara saw the Waves go on a 9-0 to retake the lead with just 91 seconds left on the clock. With 51 seconds left, Olivia Pollerd made a jumper to tie the score, but Pepperdine got a bucket of its own on the next possession to go back on top. With 22 seconds left, Alana Goodchild drilled a 3-pointer to make it 70-69. On the final Waves possession, Pollerd came up with a steal to run out the clock.

NOTABLE NUMBERS:
- Â Santa Clara shot 39.4-percent from the floor and went 12-of-28 from beyond the arc.
- Pepperdine was at 46.7-precent from the field but just 4-of-17 from downtown.
- Pollerd led the Broncos with 17 points and added eight rebounds and five assists. Hannah Rapp scored 13 with a career-high tying five assists and Goodchild had 12 on a career-high four 3-pointers. Maddie Naro scored 10 and dished out six assists without a turnover and Malia Latu just missed a double-double with nine points and a career-best eight boards.
- The Broncos had 19 assists on their 26 made baskets.
- Ella Brubaker scored 17 to lead five Pepperdine players in double-figures. Chloe Sotell (14), Megan Harkey (12), Makena Mastora (12), and Malia Mastora (11) were the other Waves to best the mark. Harkey also had a team-high seven rebounds.
