Box Score 2 STANFORD, Calif. - Santa Clara women's water polo drops to both Cal State East Bay and Biola on Saturday at the Stanford Invitational. The Broncos (1-2) have another hard challenge as they face No. 6 Stanford on Sunday.
Game one - Cal State East Bay 11, Santa Clara 8
HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Broncos started with the lead as Elle Fredrickson was the first one tallying the board. With a Maddie Clough goal to add to the Broncos' total, Cal State East Bay (1-0) was able to find the lead at 3-2 at the end of the first period.

East Bay kept the Broncos scoreless the entire second period as they expanded the gap to 6-2 in their favor. Fredrickson scored twice more and Sydney Maccabe found the back of the net off a foul in the third.

Santa Clara fought hard and out shot East Bay 31-30, but it wasn't enough as the Broncos fell short 8-11 in the end. Fredrickson ended with a team high five goals.

Liyara Senadheera started in goal and while the Broncos fell short, she recorded seven saves for a 41.2 save percentage.
Game two - Biola 14, Santa Clara 8
HOW IT HAPPENED:

Biola (3-3) started hot as they came out leading 3-1 at the end of the first period. Maccabe was the only Bronco that was successful in the second as Biola ran with the 8-2 lead.

Santa Clara was down 4-9 at the end of the third period, but were able to come back and cut the lead to 8-11 with four minutes left to go. At that point, Biola held off the Broncos and finished with a score of 14-8.

Haley Tassell made her collegiate debut and recorded one steal and five saves for a total save percentage of 55.6.

Fredrickson and Maccabe led in scoring with two a piece in the match-up against Biola.
